Here’s the timetable for our Arun Film event in Littlehampton on Saturday February 1st.
Please note, both the museum and the event are free of charge to enter, however on the day we will welcome donations for the Mayor of Littlehampton’s charity, Chestnut Tree House.
For each guest speaker, the rough format is to enjoy what they have to share, show relevant clips, and allow 10-15 mins for a brief Q&A so you can ask some questions.
Of course, if the guests have time to stay longer, you are most welcome to chat with them after, during the breaks.

DOORS OPEN
Littlehampton Museum doors open, from 10.30 staff will lead you to the Millennium Chamber, where the event will take place.
11.00-11.50
An introduction to Arun Film.
A look at film and tv production in the Littlehampton area, and the history of the local cinemas.
Highlighting films and tv shows with scenes shot in and around Littlehampton, with clips and photos, which include:

Guest speaker 1 – Ellen Cheshire.
Ellen Cheshire, freelance film researcher, writer and lecturer, will explore how Sussex’s stunning coastline and seaside towns (from Shoreham to Bognor), South Downs, and Arundel have featured in cinema. From the earliest days of moving pictures to the latest Hollywood blockbusters, she’ll reveal how these places have either doubled for other settings or played themselves, shaping iconic films throughout history.

Guest Speaker 2 – Nicholas Prosser.
Nicholas Prosser is a retired television producer and director, whose credits include Brookside, Emmerdale, EastEnders, Eldorado and The House Of Eliott.
Nick will be sharing highlights from his career, including being part of British television history during Channel 4’s opening transmission day on 2 November 1982, when he was the producer for the very first episode of Brookside.
As well as offering advice about working in television, Nick will be providing some behind-the-scenes anecdotes, including about the time Eastenders was filmed in Bognor Regis!

LUNCH BREAK
Offering plenty of time to look at the props and film projector programmes on display, chat with guests and/or visit the Museum downstairs.

Guest speaker 3 – Christian Skelton.
Christian Skelton, Chairman of the Selsey Pavilion Trust, will be talking about the history and restoration of the Selsey Pavilion — a rare and largely original example of a pre-war cine-performance venue located in Selsey.
He’ll also show and share details about his recent appearance on BBC One’s The Repair Shop, featuring a 35mm cinema projector gifted to the trust by local film projectionist Allen Taylor.

Arun Film will take a brief look at films and tv shows made in and around Arundel and Bognor Regis.

End of event, the Museum closes at 16.00, but if folks are interested to do so, we can adjourn to the Pier Road Coffee & Art cafe around the corner. for a post-event chat.

Schedule and guest speakers line-up are subject to last minute changes, should unforeseen circumstances arise.
Refreshments such as coffee and tea will be made available throughout the day, but feel free to bring your own snacks and sandwiches, while using the bins provided.
