Float

Float - Short Film - Widewater Beach - Lancing

Writer/Director/Editor Jess Dowse contacted us in October 2023 as she wanted to film a short film, ‘Float’ at Widewater beach in Shoreham.

Float tells the story of a woman training to swim the English Channel. Following the death of her wife, Ruth encounters a fearless swimmer who pushes her to confront her pain and rediscover the joy of living.

So we got on the case to ensure Jess could get on with the job of filming at this fantastic location!

Jess’s colleague Lucy gave us some fabulous feedback post-filming – here’s what she had to say about working with us:

Really easy. There was always someone to speak to and provide answers for us at every step of the permit journey. We asked for an extremely low rate as this was a self funded project and were over the moon the team could make it work… Absolutely amazing. The team were there for us for any questions, big or small. We felt so supported throughout the production process and their flexibility around dates and budget was so appreciated.

When asked what her and the team thought about the location of Widewater beach in Lancing, she continued:

The location was perfect. Not knowing Lancing that well we were thrilled that the images and space was so similar to being there in person. We achieved all of our shot list and more given the interesting rock formations and high tide of the sea.

You can check out the trailer here.

The production is being circulated at the moment for film festivals and they’re hoping to screen at some point this year – we can’t wait! Follow here for updates: instagram.com/_jessdowse/
