Ashdown Forest - Tracks - Trees - Heather

Ashdown Forest is an ancient area covering over 10 square miles of tranquil open heathland and deciduous woodland occupying the highest sandy ridge-top of the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is situated some 30 miles south of London. Rising to an altitude of 732 feet above sea level, its heights provide expansive vistas across the heavily wooded hills of the Weald to the chalk escarpments of the North Downs and South Downs on the horizon. This jewel in the crown of southern England is constantly changing with the seasons, from the swathes of purple heather in full bloom on a summer’s day, to the blankets of mist in winter. With a rich human history from Kings and commoners to smuggling and industry dating back centuries, Ashdown Forest is also the setting of the Winnie-the-Pooh stories. An absolutely stunning and magical location for filming and photography.
