The Inheritors

The Inheritors is an intimate science-fiction short film exploring themes of race, family and belonging. Reflecting on the experiences of people with multiple-heritage, it’s a story about how societal polarisation creates walls that divide us, deprive us of love, of community, of a sense of identity, and ultimately of our deepest humanity.

Two mixed-race siblings, one brown skinned (Miko), one white-passing (Iza), have been separated following the rise of The Last Guard, a white supremacist regime. In order to see each other, they meet secretly at pre-arranged times and in different locations on either side of ‘the fence’, an invisible electric field that ensures division between white and ‘non-white’ people.

We facilitated filming in the stunning Ashdown Forest for Grey Moth back in October 2023. They chose this location as the ambience and aesthetic align with the Director’s vision of the world created in the script.

Find out more about the film here from Director and Co-Writer Francesca Castelbuono. Filming wrapped in December and is currently in post-production. We can’t wait to see the end result!
