World War II: Secrets From Above
Windfall Films got in touch with us in late March 2023 as they had been commissioned to produce a second 6-part series of National Geographic’s WWII: Secrets From Above. Each factual documentary episode offers a new perspective on key moments from the war through the use of stunning drone photography and contemporary reconnaissance images. They use state-of-the-art CGI to seamlessly integrate archival imagery into our shots, creating “then and now” comparisons that truly bring the past to life. This approach provides a fresh and immersive look at the events that have shaped our world. Their destination in Sussex? Selsey’s East Beach. Selsey Beach was the site of a Heinkel plane crash and Windfall Films filmed aerials of the beach as well as filming on the ground to match the present day location with archive images from WWII. We liaised with Chichester District Council to ensure permits were in place and that all the necessary documentation was provided for the use of a drone.
